Introduction - In Europe it is often possible to switch from one historical and monumental city to another with a few hours of cars. This journey from Italy in London is no exception : we have touched Lucerne, Cologne, the countries on the long Reno, Aachen and Amsterdam before arriving in London. The return, faster (and carried out two years later) took us to Reims , a Troyes , on the Lake Geneva and finally again in Sestri Levante (town 50 kilometers from Genoa).
All worthy destinations, even if the photos do not do justice, also because of the pale light of January with which we traveled in the journey of Italy to Italy.
The itinerary - There are obviously many alternative roads, but we give some advice: the Germany has the advantage, compared to the france , to save money A lot in terms of tolls.
The tunnel under the sleeve is the fastest way to move from England to continental Europe, but it is also the most expensive. There are also different types of ferries to cross the sleeve: the fastest generally cost more and for those who have the car they require little more train time. Moreover, out of season, or booking in advance, you can save a lot. The section Dover - Calais is the classic one as well as the shorter, but in the first leg, for economic reasons, we served us very slow Ostenda - Ramsgate .
Another suggestion For savings it is to do without the motorway sticker for the Switzerland : upon return, since a short section in Swiss territory, we preferred to avoid highways, losing half an hour but avoiding paying 30 about euro of annual fee for motorways.
There are many alternative roads and beautiful cities to visit for a vacation that leads from Italy to Italy, so I don't offer me if you would consider other travel itineraries. However, I recommend to check the useful links on this page for other destinations in Italy, France, England and Scotland , all described with Device of details (much more than this holiday, I admit!) And numerous photos.
And now photos of our travel itineraries from Genoa to London and vice versa.
