CHINA TRIP REPORT AND TRAVEL ITINERARY

Here a bit from the China trip report that contains a lot of travel information about destinations, weather, etc... and some silly anecdotes about our journey too.
"We could admire one of the most spectacular and original landscapes of the world. The wide river run through steep, suppository-shaped mountains"
"In a few seconds, the sky became darker and darker [...]The sun was a tiny black ball in the dark sky surrounded by a subtle, almost invisible yellow line. We were shocked.
We didn’t have time to get used to the idea that the sun could suddenly disappear like that, without warning and not even making a call, that the sun quickly reappeared on the other side of the moon."

CHINA TRAVEL INFO

Why? China is a huge country with lots of beautiful cities and natural wonders. If great monuments, fairy mountains, unique landscapes and 500-metre high skyscrapers are not enough for you, you should consider also exotic habits, low costs and low crime rate. I can list a couple of drawbacks: the pollution in the big cities and the language barrier everywhere else (outside of Shanghai, Hong Kong and few other places, Chinese people usually don’t speak any English). Well, in certain restaurants it is better to ignore what you are eating!
When to go? It really depends on where you want to go and which activities you would like to do. In summer you can generally find good weather, but Beijing and Shanghai are very hot and in Hong Kong it is typhoon season. Large parts of the country are freezing cold in winter. Spring could be a good compromise, but plan your China travel itinerary according to the weather patterns.
How? Internal flights are cheap and efficient, taxis are very convenient. It’s almost impossible to rent a car, but you could hire a car and a driver, who can also be your silent guide.
How much? A flight from Europe could cost 800 euros, internal flights from 50 to 100 euros each. Everything else is very cheap, but you will also have the opportunity to splurge and spend a lot of money in very touristy ways.

Where? A A typical travel itinerary in China includes Beijing and the Great Wall, modernity in Shanghai, culture in Xian, natural wonders and simple farmer life in Guilin and Yangshuo.
Where else? A longer travel itinerary should include the futuristic tropical island of Hong Kong; Tibet and Himalaya (no description needed); nature and pandas in Sichuan; Xinjiang, which features historic towns and amazing landscapes at the feet of Karakorum’s 8000-metre mountains... These regions are very different from each other and all really charming.
